Subject: Kite family in VA not from England
Virginia Kite provides a loving tribute to her Kite family that came to Virginia in the 1740's. In addition to family names and dates, she shares stories such as the tragic death of Noah Kite and family members in the 1870 flood of the Shenandoah River.

The connection to the Kite family from England however is not correct. John Windle Kite who moved to VA in the 1740's seems to come from the Palatine area (between Germany, France, etc) and then to the Philadelphia area as early as 1717 with Rev Henkel and at least by 1734. Original Germanic spelling of this Kite surname seems to be Geit with Wendel or a variation as part of the name.
